Barnacle beast |
| Patella vulgata - Common limpet. I pried it off its rock in Arbroath, scotland. It keeps searching for its mucus trail home. I put it back after shooting this video.
Although they may seem to be fixed to the rock, common limpets actually move around to graze on algae during moist conditions or when they are submerged by the tide. They return to the same spot by following the mucus trail that they deposit. This spot becomes worn by the edges of the shell, and eventually an obvious scar in the rock is created. This helps the limpet to attach even more tenaciously to the rock, a strategy that protects it from desiccation.
Common limpets begin their life as males, becoming sexually mature at around 9 months of age. Most individuals undergo a sex change, typically becoming female at 2 or 3 years of age, although some remain as males . Spawning takes place once a year, usually from October to December, although the timing varies around the British Isles. Fertilisation occurs externally; the larvae spend their first few days of life in the water column, after which time they settle on the shore. Life-span varies, but is between 10 and 20 years .
In many areas, limpets have been collected as a food source for many centuries |

Remembering Jerry Schisler |
| Jerry Schisler died January 4, 2007 of a heart attack and this is to Jerry.
More about Jerry and who he was.
A LIFE LIVED: Gerald "Jerry" Schisler, 1948-2007
A mugging changed this mans life
fter Jerry Schisler overcame being homeless, he could have turned his back on the experience and ignored those he left behind.
Instead, he took out a loan so he could give Horizon House a check for $1,000 to help others get the kind of help he had been given.
"I think part of his strength came from helping other people once he got a place to live and a job," said Carter Wolf, the executive director of Horizon House, a day center for the homeless.
"He never saw anyone he thought was a throw-away person," Wolf said. "Jerry was a big guy with a heart to match," Wolf said of Mr. Schisler, who died Jan. 4 at age 58.
Mr. Schisler, who had gone to college and had a job, was just another working guy when he was mugged at an ATM machine in 2001. He was in a coma for three days but found his life had dramatically changed. Because he failed to call his office, his job was gone, and he was soon out of money and on the streets.
He had relatives who lived here, but Mr. Schisler wasnt about to go back on his knees and ask for help, Wolf said. "He wasnt going to go back until he could walk in as a man, and then he could tell his story. He did the hard work."
Mr. Schisler was able to rekindle his sense of pride and dignity. With the help of Horizon House, he got a job at Angies List and an apartment on the Near Eastside.
After Mr. Schisler was mugged, he disappeared, said his daughter, Michele Elliott. "We didnt know about it," and his family had no way of contacting him, she said of her fathers 14 months of being homeless.
"It was like, where did he go? Had he died?" she recalled. "Who would have thought this strong person was going to be homeless?"
She credits Angies List with giving her father a chance to regain his life when no one else would.
His concern about helping the homeless, though, was just part of his character. "There wasnt anything he wouldnt do to help somebody else," she said.
Mr. Schisler would go out and offer homeless people a sandwich as a way to start a conversation, Wolf said. He didnt preach, but he told them they had to quit blaming the world and take ownership of their homelessness because there were plenty of places to get help.
Once he had a job, Mr. Schisler began serving on Horizon Houses board of directors. A couple of years ago, he walked into Wolfs office and handed him a check for $1,000.
"I said, Jerry, you dont have to do this, and I know you cant do this," Wolf said. "Yes, I do have to do this," Mr. Schisler replied. "Horizon House saved my life."
Other survivors include a son, Jeremy Schisler; a daughter, Jaime Mersch; a brother, Randy Schisler; and his former wife, Cheryl Schisler.
Services were held Jan. 9 at Victorious Life Church of the Nazarene.

Farewell to 2 who taught
Jerry had lost his membership in the middle class, and everything else, when an attack at an ATM machine plunged him into a coma in 2001. He spent 14 months on the streets before the Horizon House center for services to the homeless saved his life, as he put it to me in a Thanksgiving Day column in 2005.
Employed and paying rent, the plus-sized, genial gent paid back with compound interest. He quietly gave away much of his modest paychecks. He became a board member of Horizon House, an advocate for societal assistance to this increasingly neglected population, and most of all a big brother to the down and out. Hed prowl the sidewalks and underpasses by night with bags of White Castles, not to feed a do-gooder impulse but to get guys talking about their need to help themselves.
"People who have been poor really understand. Its personal," says Carter Wolf, director of Horizon House. But his friend Jerry was much more than an example. He was an exemplar. They wont soon fill that huge plaid shirt.

Sonic Changes Color in Sonic 2 (NOT Super Sonic) |
| 1,000 views ALREADY? Nice. =D
An interesting little glitch in Sonic 2. This green and black hedgehog is sometimes known as "Ashura". Why he got that name, Ill never know.
This is how to do the glitch:
1. Enable Level Select and Debug Mode
2. Select Emerald Hill Zone 1 or 2
3. Press B to change into a ring, then hit A until you are a vertical column of 4 rings, then hit A once more. It will look like there is nothing there.
4. Press C to place the object (a waterfall) MANY MANY times. Confine your placing to within half a screen of where you started. Do this until the flashing word "Rings" has a blue outline.
5. Press B again to turn back into Sonic and get out of the waterfalls... it will take a little bit of effort, just hold right and keep jumping!
6. When you emerge, you will be green with a patch of black on the head!
Some interesting things:
You can view your progress on the color change by looking at your life counter.
If you get a continue, that mini-Sonic will be green and black too!
Some enemies and other colors will be screwed up, but the game still plays normally.
Have fun! |

Fuel and Electricity Price Hike Demo - 29 May 2006 - Video 1 |
| It was supposed to be the climax of a series of anti-fuel hike demonstrations, yet it ended on a tragic note when police today forcefully broke up the protest with at least two seriously injured.
At 10.30am, the 500-strong crowd gathered near the Jalan Ampang entrance of the iconic Kuala Lumpur City Centre and began their peaceful protest with noisy chants and fiery speeches.
One of the protest banners said: "Cronies get rich while workers are oppressed".
The protestors also slammed a governments decision last week to raise electricity tariffs by 12 percent - the first hike in nearly a decade.
Some 100 riot police wielding batons and rifles stood guard in front of KLCC Twin Towers, alongside several water cannon trucks, as helicopters flew overhead.
"Everybody is suffering from the fuel hike. Now electricity prices are also up. These two hikes will hit us hard, whether our pay is large or small," chief protest organiser Dr Hatta Ramli told the crowd.
Things took a turn for the worse when the third speaker at the demonstration, DAP representative Ronnie Liu, expressed his gratitude for the support given by voters to the opposition at the recent Sarawak state elections.
Immediately, the police through loudhailers issued an order for the crowd to disperse. The crowd ignored the warning, and five minutes later, water cannons were fired.
Despite being drenched profusely, most of the crowd defiantly held their ground, prompting plainclothes police officers to move in and make random arrests.
Those arrested include Liu, PAS Kubang Kerian member of parliament Salahuddin Ayub and Parti Keadilan Rakyat deputy information chief Badrul Hisham.
As the crowd moved out of the water cannons range, the Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) charged at them sending many protestors, including women and children, running for cover as shocked Sunday shoppers looked on.
Excessive violence
Eyewitness reports tell of excessive violence being used by the FRU on several protestors, including PKR deputy secretary-general Zahir Hassan (left and below), who was kicked a number of times while sprawled on the road.
Zahir was walking away from the protest venue with his two daughters when he was repeatedly shoved from behind by a FRU officer using his shield.
The FRU officer then turned to Zahirs two daughters, both in their 20s, pushing one of them. Enraged, Zahir attempted to protect his daughters from the police officer.
Instead, Zahir was assaulted by several FRU personnel. He was thrown to the floor, endured several blows of police baton and at least three kicks - two on the back and one on the abdomen - prompting his daughters to scream hysterically.
All this while, Zahir was clutching onto the anti-fuel hike booklet that was distributed at the protest. According to PKR information chief Tian Chua, Zahir - who was arrested by the police - had been sent to the hospital for medical attention.
An X-ray was taken before Zahir was sent to the Pudu police station where other detainees were held.

Cecilia Bartoli, Symphony Hall, Boston, October 24, 2005 |
| Cecilia Bartoli strode onstage at Symphony Hall yesterday with a two- or three-yard satin train sweeping behind her emerald gown. Her arms swinging, she looked ready for business, like a prizefighter entering the ring.
The Italian mezzos business this time was to perform 13 arias, 10 of them from her latest best-selling album for Decca, Opera Proibita," music written in Rome by Handel, Alessandro Scarlatti, and Antonio Caldara during the period early in the 18th century when public performances of opera were banned for political or religious reasons. Composers responded to the crisis by producing highly operatic oratorios on religious themes -- a solution Handel would remember decades later in London, when the money for opera ran out.
The first two arias presented the two extremes of the program. A brilliant Scarlatti piece with trumpets came first. Bartoli flung out irridescent sprays of notes like a dog shaking off his bath. No disrespect intended -- shes a natural phenomenon. This was followed by a slow, weeping aria by Caldara that displayed Bartolis Damson plum timbre, her prodigious span of breath, her mastery of ornamentation, dynamics, and echo effects. Her voice is not large, but the emotional wallop it delivers is.
She was expertly abetted by the Orchestra La Scintilla from the Zurich Opera. Led by its Cleveland-born concertmaster, Ada Pesch, this group plays with a grounded energy comparable to Bartolis, and unlike many early-instrument bands, it is not afraid to play slowly or pianissimo.
In later virtuoso coloratura arias, Bartoli upped the ante, mostly by widening the range (up to an easily produced high D) and increasing the number of notes she took on one breath. If the singer has a flaw, it is that these bravura arias wind up sounding interchangeable because she almost always delivers them at the same tempo. It is in her pliant, affecting delivery of slow music like Handels Lascia la spina" that Bartoli is incomparable. She is also irresistible in lilting, pastoral pieces, where the appeal lies in the swerve she brings to melody, the charming playfulness she brings to text.
The applause was tremendous and Bartoli surrendered four encores -- the melody by Bononcini that became world famous as Handels Largo," a section of Cleopatras dazzling final aria from Handels Giulio Cesare," a delightful Scarlatti duet with sopranino recorder, and a reprise of the final section of the last number on the official program, an aria from Handels Resurrection."

The Rat Tree - Farmboy Documentary |
| ** News Flash! ** Farmboy has WON an Emmy award for Musical Composition...
Also... Farmboy DVDs and Soundtrack Albums can now be pre-ordered at www.farmboymovie.com.
Rats in trees???!!!! Climbing train trussels? These are just two of the many antics depicted in this video clip. "The Rat Tree" is a segment from the upcoming Jonamac Productions documentary "Farmboy". This film will have a broad release on public television and will be available on DVD in 2007.
For more information on Farmboy please visit www.FarmboyMovie.com.
Movie Synopsis:
John Babcock was born on August 10, 1922. He spent his childhood on his familys farm known as Sunnygables during the Great Depression. Johns father, Howard Edward Babcock, used Sunnygables as his testing ground in developing many revolutionary farming techniques, now taken for granted. Elevated milking parlors, home freezers, rubber automobile tires on farm tractors and implements, and many more innovations were introduced to American farmers at Sunnygables.
H.E. Babcock was the first professor of farm marketing (1921) and later Chairman of the Board (1940s) at Cornell University. He was a key figure in the development of todays food nutrition standards. H.E. was also well known for his column, "Kernels, Screenings and Chaff" in the farm magazine American Agriculturist.
The story of Sunnygables and the Babcock family is important for a full understanding of American cultural development in the 20th century. Every American dinner table experienced the changes effected by this farm. The principles and programs developed by H.E. Babcock helped save the American Farm back then and are now saving farms in other lands.
In recent times, the future of the family farm worldwide is in serious jeopardy. Production costs far outweigh low selling prices. This trend, coupled with the fact that, in developing lands, most farmers are unable to afford necessary agricultural technology threaten the continued existence of family farms.
In urban United States, most school-aged children have very little idea where their food comes from. When questioned, many youths claim that the food they eat comes from the back room of the supermarket. Those who have some familiarity with agriculture assume that there will always be an abundant supply of food available to the American public. It is hoped that this documentary will create an awareness of these issues and further H.E. Babcocks mission of education and innovation in the field of agriculture.
Farmboy, a film based on the writings of John Babcock, discusses four intertwined themes:
1. Johns experience as a farmboy during the Great Depression when agriculture was making the leap from horse to gas-power and mechanization. As a boy, John observed all of the changes taking place around him. He took an active role in the daily operations of the farm. During his idle time, he would play and explore. His experiences are both entertaining and enlightening.
2. The evolution of northeast agriculture and farm co-ops;
3. The career of H.E. Babcock in agriculture, nutrition and higher education; and
4. The perpetuation of H.E. Babcocks programs and programs in the United States and on a global level today.
Farmboy is narrated by interviews conducted with John Babcock, Per Pinstrup-Andersen (H.E. Babcock Professor, Cornell University), Joe Lockwood (GLF/AGWAY Historian), Gould Colman (Cornell University Archivist), John Marcham (Journalist), and many more. The documentary, conceived by Jake Gorst (Leisurama, 2005) contains vintage photography, archival films and re-enactments of Johns childhood experiences.
Lastly:
No animals or humans were harmed in the production of this film! |

Oppression |
| peace,
God says that oppression is worse than murder, one of its ugly faces is Human Trafficking, the UN estimates there are more than 800,000 being trafficked every year, many of them are forced into prostitution and threatened with death should they attempt to escape the clutches of their captors.
The real numbers maybe much higher than that, this international organized crime is hidden and most victims are too scared to come out.
"Human trafficking is so hidden, you dont know who youre fighting — the victims are so scared, theyre not going to tell you whats happening to them," said Zambian Given Kachepa, a former victim of a ring that exploited Zambian orphans touring the United States in a boys choir.
Eventhough men are supposed to take care of women, mothers, sisters, wives, daughters (Quran[4:34]) some men have preffered to use and abuse them.

(Israel)N., from Ukraine, worked on Peretz Street in Tel Aviv, explains why women dont run away. "We all dreamt of escaping, but they even managed to steal the dream from us after someone did leave. A week after she disappeared, her familys home in Moldava was firebombed."
"We had nowhere to run," says H. from Ukraine. "The door was always locked, bars on the windows, and there was a closed-circuit TV in each room.
"And even if you managed to get out—where would you go? What would you do? Several customers were police officers, and other cops would check our visas and leave. So who would we have turned to for help?

Once limited to infamous locales such as Bombay and Bangkok, sex trafficking is now an $8 billion international business, with San Francisco among its largest commercial centers.
"Human trafficking is a multibillion-dollar business. In terms of profits, its on a path to overtake drug and arms trafficking," Barry Tang
Women are scared for good reason. Those who have become witnesses have been burned with acid, have disappeared, or have had their homes ransacked and their families harmed or threatened in their home countries, said Dong Shim Kim
The United States is among the top three destination countries for sex traffickers, along with Japan and Australia.

Once a victim has reached his or her destination, the slaveholder will keep the victim indebted further to pay for the costs of travel transportation, passport, and visa fees. Then the slave enters into "debt bondage." The slaves weekly living expenses are deducted from any small credits that may be applied through his or her labor, leaving the victim always in greater debt. Many times the traffickers or "coyotes" father children of the victims. The slave lord takes the babies from their mothers to be cared for by his own family, thus holding more control over the slave to work harder to earn the baby back.

Video 5 of 7
At fifty six, seven, eight, it doesnt matter,
X street, if you knock on the door,
First one knock, then three others, they let you in
Alone and sometimes even accompanied.
A servant, without speaking to you, leads you,
Stairs, hallways with no end follow each other
Decorated with baroque bronzes and gilded angels
With Aphrodites and Salomés.
If its free, say you want forty four,
Its the room they call here `The Cleopatra
Whose beds rococo columns,
Are negros, carrying torches.
Among these naked slaves carved from ebony,
Who will be the silent witnesses to this scene,
While above the mirror reflects us,
Slowly I embrace Melody

yuanmingyuanå†çް"圆明å›"(ä¸å›½ä¸å¤®ç”µè§†å°ä¸€å¥—) |
| A Large Piece of Fine Art
A Brief Introduction Of
"The Forty Landscapes of Yuanmingyuan "
"The Forty Landscapes of Yuanmingyuan" Zhake is a large comprehensive set of ancient architecture pieces that bases its design on the ink and colored pictures of Yuanmingyuan.
The "Zhake" constitutes of more than 1000 pieces of pavilions, platforms, mansions, storied buildings, palaces, halls, balconies, corridors, ships, pagodas, bridges, archways and yard walls. Covering more than 3000 square meters, its height is 1/30th of that of the original landscapes. While the forty landscapes can each be considered as an independent piece of art, they altogether constitute a panoramic view of the Yuanmingyuan Garden.
The work is made of quality sorghum stalks with a diameter of 0.12-0.90 cm, which were all handpicked from hundreds of tons of sorghum stalks by the Chinese traditional artists. The stalks of the sorghum used is tens of thousands of meters long, which is many times more than the heights of the Everest Peak.
Totally made by hand, it took more than 140 Chinese traditional artists 3 years to complete. Mr. Luozhewen, the group leader of the traditional architecture panel of the National Administration of Cultural Heritages was invited as the architectural technical consultant and Mr. Liuzuo, the famous folk arstists of Hebei Province and General Manager of our company, designed and presided over the whole event.
The Forty Landscapes is a fine art delicately connected and carved with sorghum stalks. From the varied small muntins to the large doors and windows (though large, they are only as big as a mans thumb) that could be open and closed as one wishes; people could not help marveling at the talents and skills of the oriental artists. The padlock structured archaized Dougong system used in the art is actually much better than the traditional Dougong Structure in the aesthetic and dynamic terms. It was praised as "Typical Oriental Constructivism" by some western experts. Therefore, the art piece not only restores the landscapes of the famous Yuanmingyuan garden, but it also provides a good opportunity for people to appreciate the marvels and uniqueness of the Chinese Folk Art.
Having been exhibited in the Chinese National Museum and the Chinese National Museum for Fine Arts for many times, the art-piece has won praises from many experts and scholars both home and abroad as well as the coverage of the Chinese media. In 1997, it was listed in the Shanghai Guinness World Records.
Thanks to the techniques provided by the Cultural Heritage Restoration Committee of the State Administration of Cultural Heritages, now the art could be stored and preserved for a long time under museum conditions.
The piece is now for sale. All efforts for cooperation are welcome.

Temples of Baalbek and Anjar |
| Visit of / Visite de / Besuch von / Visita de / Chiamata di de Baalbek & Anjar
زياره بعلبك / Baalbekの訪問 / Baalbek의 방문 / 访问巴勒贝克
Baalbek (Arabic: بعلبك) is a town in the Bekaa Valley of Lebanon, altitude 3,850 ft (1,170 m), situated east of the Litani River. It is famous for its exquisitely detailed but monumentally scaled temple ruins of the Roman period, when Baalbek, known as Heliopolis was one of the largest sanctuaries in the Empire. It is located at 34°00′22″N, 36°12′31″E about 200 km east of Beirut.
At present, Baalbek serves as the primary center of the Shia population of the Bekaa Valley and one of the main training camps for the Hizbullah forces.
Heliopolis (there was another Heliopolis in Egypt) was made a colonia by the Roman Empire in 15 BC and a legion was stationed there. Work on the religious complex there lasted over a century and a half and was never completed. The dedication of the present temple ruins, the largest religious building in the entire Roman empire, dates from the reign of Septimus Severus, whose coins first show the two temples. The great courts of approach were not finished before the reigns of Caracalla and Philip. In commemoration, no doubt, of the dedication of the new sanctuaries, Severus conferred the rights of the jus italicum on the city. Today, only six Corinthian columns remain standing. Eight more were disassembled and shipped to Constantinople under Justinians orders, for his basilica of Hagia Sophia.
The greatest of the three temples was sacred to Jupiter Baal, ("Heliopolitan Zeus"), identified here with the sun, with whom were associated a temple to Venus and a lesser temple in honor of Bacchus (though it was traditionally referred to by Neoclassical visitors as "Temple of the Sun"). Thus three Eastern deities were worshipped in Roman guise: thundering Jove, the god of storms, stood in for Baal-Hadad, Venus for Ashtart (known in English as Astarte) and Bacchus for Anatolian Dionysus.
Jupiter-Baal was represented locally (on coinage) as a beardless god in long scaly drapery, holding a whip in his right hand and thunderbolts and ears of wheat in his left. Two bulls supported him. In this guise he passed into European worship in the 3rd century and 4th century AD. The icon of Helipolitan Zeus (in A.B. Cook, Zeus, i:570-576) bore busts of the seven planetary powers on the front of the pillarlike term in which he was encased. A bronze statuette of this Heliopolitan Zeus was discovered at Tortosa, Spain; another was found at Byblos in Phoenicia. A comparable iconic image is the Lady of Ephesus (see illustration) (Robert Graves, The Greek Myths I.4).
The extreme licence of the Heliopolitan worship of Aphrodite was often commented upon by early Christian writers, and Constantine, making an effort to curb the Venus cult, built a basilica. Theodosius I erected another, with a western apse, occupying the main court of the Jupiter temple, as was Christian practice everywhere. The vast stone blocks of its walls were taken from the temple itself. Today nothing of the Theodosian basilica remains.
Other Emperors enriched the sanctuary of Heliopolitan Jupiter each in turn. Nero (54-68 BC) built the tower-altar opposite the Temple of Jupiter, Trajan added the forecourt to the Temple of Jupiter, with porticos of pink granite brought from Aswan in Egypt. Antoninus Pius built the Temple of Bacchus, the best preserved of the sanctuarys structures, for it was protected by the very rubble of the sites ruins. It is enriched with refined reliefs and sculpture. Septimus Severus added a pentagonal Temple of Venus, who as Aphrodite had enjoyed an early Syrian role with her consort Adonis ("Lord," the Aramaic translation of "Baal."). Christian writers competed with one another to execrate her worship. Eusebius of Caesarea, down the coast, averred that men and women vie with one another to honour their shameless goddess; husbands and fathers let their wives and daughters publicly prostitute themselves to please Astarte. Emperor Philip the Arab (244-249) was the last to add a monument at Heliopolis— the hexagonal forecourt. When he was finished Heliopolis and Praeneste in Italy were the two largest sanctuaries in the Western world. (wikipedia)

Their kill runs to over 3,000, and Momote airfield is captured. Soon, we see Gen. MacArthur ashore, disdainful of snipers. He inspects the entire area, which has been so quickly captured. Samson (Covered by Matthew Luke Sandoval) |
| Thanks for checking out my take of Regina Spektors incredible "Samson."
If you enjoyed it, I wonder if you might lend me your support in the MusicNation contest by voting for "Samson" at http://musicnation.com/v1e4. The first round of voting started just a few days ago and only runs for a few days more. Me, my iSight camera, my disorganized closet are up against some seriously well-produced videos. So I need all the help I can get. : )
MusicNation is sort of like an online version of American Idol. There will be one winner in each of three categories (my video is in Pop). Each one will get recording contract with Epic Records. Someone at the contest saw "Samson" and asked me to enter it. Ive done some research and am sure the place is legit.
Heres how to vote:
1.) Go to http://musicnation.com/v1e4
2.) Rate the video (more stars = better)
3.) The site will tell you that you need to register. They arent going to be selling your email address to marketers. The registration process is simply to curb potential cheating in the voting process.
One more thing...and this one is really important.
4.) After youve voted, send the link and this letter to anyone and everyone who you think might like the music and ask them to vote as well.
When all is said and done, Ill let you know how it goes!
Your support is enormously important. I thank you for it.
Yours,
Matthew Luke Sandoval

| TOPKAPI PALACE
Topkapi Palace is the most popular attraction in the city, so you should put it on top of your list and get here early, before 9:00 a.m., to beat the crowds and long lines. The palace originally had 5,000 residents, functioning as an opulent, self-contained city divided in various sections that cover a total area of 700,000 square yards, all surrounded by 3 miles of walls. Four large courtyards with impressive column arcades enclose beautiful gardens you are welcome to stroll through, amid lush landscaping, ponds and fountains. It was home to the royal Sultan and the empires center of government for four hundred years; it also housed the judiciary, Harem and the Palace School. Because there are so many interesting things to see, a visit will take at least three hours for the complete visit. |

Traditional Macedonian Wedding in GaliÄÂnik (part 3) |
| Each year the village of Galicnik hosts a traditional Macedonian wedding in the beginning of July which will hold only on St. Peters Day. This traditional wedding is a remainder of the past. When Galicnik had 1600 people living in 800 houses. The village of Galicnik which extends on the falls of Mount Bistra is found 110 km away from the capital city of Macedonia. The sound of drums and trumpets echoes through Mount Bistra and the valley of the river Radika. The people from Galicnik and some 7.000 quests from the Republic of Macedonia and from U.S.A, Germany, Austria, Italy and some other countries. Each tradition and ritual was followed with great interest and attention. All of this was captured on photo and film cameras. With the arrival of the drums, the mother in-low dances the „Svekrvino oro" the Traditional Mother in-low dance.
In the front yard of the grooms house, girls and boys dressed in Traditional clothes which originate from Galicnik with flowers they decorated the "Barjak" which was then put on the house.
The older people from Galicnik danced the "Hard Dance" (Teskoto) , the symbol of the people in this region. Whale dancing, they were reminded at the hard past, at the fortune seeking, at the weddings and the happiness. A few tears rolled down their wrinkled cheeks in grief for the past and happiness that Galicnik still lives. On the second day at the wedding the rituals continued. On this day the groom together with his closest relatives invite the Godfather to attend the wedding. Before the wedding column was formed, the groom was shaved and few traditional songs were sung: " Nejke zetot berber da go brici, tuk mi saka mlad pobratim...". In the moment when the the in-lows were on their way to the bride they carried out the custom "Bodinjanje" where they race who will be first to get to the brides house.
Many customs were carried out there too: looking through the ring, giving presents, carrying the dowry and taking the bride.
During the two days, a number of customs and rituals could be seen on the Galicnik wedding. This gave outside a glimpse of the richness and atmosphere of wedding in the past.
The marriage ceremony attracted the most guests. This takes place in the church temple "St. Petar and St. Pavle" in Galicnik. Each year the temple in filled with people. |

Lockjaw Three Minute Speed Run -- Tetris Replica |
| Played on Lockjaw: The Reference at http://www.pineight.com/lj/ .
More information on Tetris at http://www.tetrisconcept.com .
Music by Moebius. I thought his/her retro game remixes were pretty fun. The first song is the Castlevania theme. The second one is the Tetris theme. Normally I hate Tetris-techno-crap, but I thought this one was pretty okay.
Things not so apparent in the video: theres a thin gray box around the playfield, so theres an empty column on the right. Also, I didnt record sound, but the only thing I hear when I play is the five second count down at the end anyway.
Enjoy. |

God of War II - Sisters of Fate - Pt. 3 - Lahkesis/Atropos |
| This is the final battle with the first two Sisters.
Now I suck pretty hardcore in this video, I was just getting impatient and wanted the fight to be over so I was being overly-aggressive. It isnt really hard at all =P.
Lahkesis fights pretty much like she does the first time you fight, with maybe a few different moves. It definitely shouldnt affect your strategy though.
Also Atropos is involved with the fight, though barely, she just shoots beams and sometimes throws this huge beam that goes across the whole floor, just grapple up and youll be okay.
Once Lahkesis goes down, freeze time, and rip on Atropos for a bit, then bust the mirror.
During the final stage, when Lahkesis is guarding the last mirror, be sure not to be caught in the staggered beam columns she sends out, they take about half your health. I guess you could try to block them with the Fleece, but Im too impatient to find out, and just decided dodging would be best.
Enjoy! |

Creaking Honda Civic Steering Column 2/3 |
| My 2003 Honda Civic Hybrid has had a very bad creak emmit from the steering column while moving the wheel while accelerating from 0-25 mph. It only occurs while accelerating with the gas pedal. Decelerating and moving the wheel produces no noise / creak regardless of speed, and wheel movement at higher speeds does not create a sound. I had a front impact in Dec 2004 so it could be a result of the re-build (it was a moderate hood / radiator damage) but the noise has only gotten bad in the past 6 months. Does it have something to do with the power steering fluid? power steering belt? Example video 2 of 3 |
